Sunshine Gal glitter background

Hello. Thanks to a friend and a recent shopping trip to the craft store, I learned how to make my own glitter paste. You can make it shiny, clear or any color you may need.

This lovely new stamp from Unity Stamp Co and her awesome sentiments just begged for a sunshiny background. I thought, why not make it shiny and glittery while I was at it.

These are the basic supplies to make your own glitter paste. You can use colored glitters but I wanted to experiment first so I picked up a clear one. I decided my Vicki Boutin art supplies would be perfect for changing the colors because they don't make the paste runny. I started by scribbling my yellow crayon on a non-stick surface. Then I squirted out a 50 cent piece size of the gloss gel medium, then sprinkled some glitter on and started mixing like a mad woman. I kept adding glitter until I got the sparkle I wanted. Then I just used a palette knife to spread it through a sun ray stencil onto my card stock and set it aside to dry. I left it over night because dinner had to be made so I don't know how long it takes to dry.

It is so shiny and glittery in person. I am going to have a lot of fun playing with these supplies.

Copic colors used:
Skirt Y19, YR23 & YR24
Shirt, belt, hairband-BG10, BG11, BG13
Flowers-BG13, BG15
Skin: E000, E11
Hair: E35, E37
Purse: E53, E55, E57

I cut the sun ray panel down with a stitched rectangle. Then I cut some white card stock about 1/8" larger and I used the BG11 marker to color the edges for a perfectly matched mat. I cut some yellow card stock with a scallop die and then I matted it on white card stock cut to an A2 size and then colored with the BG11 marker along the edges also. The sentiment was matted the same way.

  1. Fantastic! I've been wanting to make my own glitter paste too! I was thinking it would be neat to add in some of my shaker packs.
