Succulent CAS card

I rarely do clean and simple cards. I find myself always wanting to do something to fill up the space. I've been a little creatively challenged lately so I decided to use a sketch and color challenge posted by my friend Annie on the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group. If you love red rubber stamps and getting tons of inspiration, go join. You won't regret it. Your pocket book might, but you won't.

This is a really quick card to make. I used some masking, ink blending, colored pencils and a sketch.
I started with the sketch below and a three of colors from the color inspiration group.

The first thing I did was stamp and color this succulent from Unity Stamp Co. It's from their itty bitty line and is so cute. I used Prismacolors and Gamsol for the coloring. I fussy it cut it out and put it aside while I did the background.

Prismacolors used: Pink PC1018
Teal PC1021

I used 1" wide Post It tape to mask off a white edge around my A2 size panel.

I tape this stencil over it and used Distress Oxide Hickory smoke to blend on the Chevron pattern laying the ink on pretty heavy. I removed the stencil and left the Post it tape on, then blended a very light coat in from the edges of the tape.

I blended the Hickory Smoke ink on a scrap strip and stamped the sentiment from the kit on it. I trimmed down the white panel about 1/16" on each side. I mounted the strip of the white panel, then matted that with black card stock. That was mounted on an A2 card base. I then used 1/16" foam tape to pop up the succulent on the card. I am pretty happy with out this turned out.

Supplies used:
Everything Happens to be Wonderful-succulent and sentiment
Tight Chevron-stencil
