Friends of Unity March 2020 Blog Hop

Hello everyone. I feel like it's been forever since I blogged here. The Unity Challenges I have been hosting have kept me busy I guess. Well that and a darling, adorable, squishy new grandson. That makes number 3 for me and I LOVE being a grandma.

This month the Friends of Unity blog hop is all about Designer's Choice

I opted to use a new stamp set for my first card. I've had it for a while but haven't been able to use yet. Funny how life had crazy busy pockets of time along with normal every day time.
I used Unusual Day Poppy by Graciellie for this one. I colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I used just one color for each area and blended it out with a water brush. I cut this down with a stitched die and used fun foam to mount it on my card base. The sentiment was from Abundant Blessings.

My second project was one I did just for me. I have been wanting to play with my inks and get messy for a while so I grabbed a tag and had some fun.

I used this tag that came in a Kit of the Month. I grabbed Distress oxides in Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon and smooshed them on my glass mat and sprayed them with a bit of water. Then I just started dipping the tag in one color at a time, drying between layers until I liked what I had.
I used the kit Hug from Unity and I used ALL the elements in the kit. I used the script, the netting and the sploch and stamped them randomly on the tag with the same 3 colors until I liked it. I stamped the flower and sentiments from this kit in Ground Espresso. It looked like it needed something so I used the script and some Frayed Burlap ink to stamp a bit more randomly. Then I used that same color to ink the edges. I used a q-tip and Spiced Marmalade to add some shading to the flower petals.

Be sure to follow along with the rest of the hop. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Your talent has much variety. I like how you made 2 floral projects that have such different looks. Both are equally pretty and have personalities of their own. Well done!
