Friends of Unity January hop

Happy New Year everyone. Here's to everyone having a wonderful, crafty year. I got my craft room cleaned up the day after Christmas and have managed to make several cards since then and it is still clean.

This month the Friends of Unity hop is all about CAS cards. I am not sure exactly what qualifies for this category. Most of the time I think a CAS card means lots of white space and I'm just not good at that.

Be sure to read to the bottom and follow the links for the rest of the Unity Friends hop pages.

I started with an image from the January 2022 kit of the month called Beautiful Blessings. I had it all colored and I decided I needed something more on it so I tried to mask it off and add black paint spatters. You all, I am terrible at that spatter thing. Every method I try does something weird. This time I got some big old splats but I just went with it.  The sentiment is a good reminder at the beginning of the year. I used the mosaic triangle die from Gina Marie Designs for the border.

  3. I 100% agree about the splatter thing! I personally embrace the large splats! It means that it was created by someone's hands! Love the sentiment too! Beautiful card!

  6. Woo HOO to you for a clean crafty room... still! I love this card!! I like to send a tea bag in my get well cards and this image is warm and soft and caring and would be wonderful to use as a little pocket inside to hold it. The coloring is beautiful! And the splatters? I never noticed any out of order, the imperfection of splatters are so pretty. I have, however started to loosely mask faces or centers where IF a grand-ol-boo boo splatter escapes it wont be on the focal part. Ironically those blobb splatters seem to love faces.. solved ha! Happy warm and safe New Year!

  10. Love this, Alaine! Your coloring is awesome and beautiful!! You did fab on the splatter too! I think the key to splatter is how wet your brush is... a super wet brush will make bigger splatters and a less wet brush will make tiny splatters. Hope that helps ya friend, but really I think you did a great job!
